Elaine Purdy poses with her granddaughter Carly Kudzia at Carly's Party for the Cure.

More than 400 people attended Carly’s Party for the Cure Sept. 28, 2012, at the Pinnacle. More than $50,000 was raised at the event for the Progeria Research Foundation Inc.

Heather and Ryan Kudzia, parents of the 2-year-old, said the fundraiser wouldn’t have been possible without sponsors and a team of more than 50 volunteers.
“The support of our community amazes us. Thank you for supporting progeria and for raising us up,” Heather said. “It’s easy to have faith with all the positivity that  surrounds us. Hope starts here!”
