*This podcast series is in collaboration with WGTE Public Media and Metroparks Toledo. Erin Holden, Editor-in-Chief of the Toledo Free Press, is the host and producer.
Join Erin Holden as she explores everyday life in Toledo’s Metroparks. In each episode, Erin interviews different park visitors – runners, teachers, artists, parents and more – revealing the many ways people connect with nature. You’ll hear personal stories about people’s relationships with our parks and the activities they cherish. Erin also documents her journey along the way, reflecting on the insights she gains from each experience.
In Episode 1, Erin heads to Swan Creek Metropark to discuss the spiritual aspect of immersing oneself in nature. Isabella Weik of the Toledo Mindfulness Institute and David Strickler, Commissioned Lay Minister at First Unitarian Church of Toledo, provide insight on how nature can form a foundation for spiritual growth.
