It’s an especially exciting time to be out and about in Metroparks Toledo and other premier natural areas of our region. It’s time to welcome the huge numbers and varieties of warblers that will pass through on their way to more northern breeding territories. Some will remain here to raise their young, while others belong to a group known as the overflight, warblers and other species that come a bit further north than they prefer and will head southward.
Serious birders understandably get carried away looking for the rarities, but in truth, many of the most colorful warblers are fairly common. That’s what this Wild Side is all about.
