Late summer butterflies in Metroparks Toledo

TOLEDO – Late summer is prime time for our largest butterflies, especially swallowtails and monarchs. Look for them in Metropark meadows and tallgrass prairies, as well as backyard gardens, where they are nectaring on summer blooms. Monarchs favor milkweeds, where they will also lay their eggs and their caterpillars will feed. It’s a wonderful time of year to enjoy the summer wildflowers swaying in the breezes of the season.
