TOLEDO – Nothing sets the tone for summer like the parade, house tours and musical performances of the Old West End Festival (OWEF), on the first weekend in June.
The evening of Friday, June 5, kicks off the 53rd Old West End Festival and it continues through Sunday, June 7.

The run is planned to end right before the most recognizable staple of the OWEF – the parade.
King Wamba Parade
For two decades, the King Wamba Parade, an iconic procession for King Wamba and Queen Sancha, has been the crowning feature of the OWEF.
Two OWE neighborhood, community-minded individuals are chosen each year as the king and queen to lead the parade through the streets of the neighborhood.
Starting at 10 a.m. the two set out from Robinwood Ave. and Collins St., and stop the procession at Collingwood Blvd. and Floyd St.
The parade culminates with the couple’s coronation on the steps of the Toledo Museum of Art (TMA).
Following the coronation, a commemorative OWEF song, “Festival Time in the Old West End” by Eric Stihls, will have its first full-band debut on the TMA steps at noon.
