Obituary For Paul Mark Bass

Paul Bass, age 59, passed away on June 29, 2026. Born on March 21, 1967, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Paul and Jennie Bass. He graduated from Macomber-Whitney Vocational School and later pursued nursing studies at The University of Toledo, reflecting his lifelong desire to learn and serve others.

Paul proudly served his country in the United States Navy for four years. Stationed in New York, he served during Operation Desert Storm and Operation Fiery Vigil. During his military service, he worked as a Certified Pharmacy Technician, providing compassionate care to fellow service members. His time in the Navy sparked a lifelong passion for travel and introduced him to places and experiences that shaped the rest of his life.

That love of travel naturally led Paul to the career he cherished most, truck driving. The open road became his second home, and he found great joy behind the wheel, traveling through 49 of the 50 states and experiencing the beauty and diversity of the country. Throughout his career, he drove for McDonald's Distribution, worked as a supervisor at UPS, successfully owned and operated his own trucking business, and most recently was employed by Hirschbach Trucking. To Paul, truck driving was more than a profession, it was a calling that combined his independence, work ethic, and adventurous spirit.

Beyond his career, Paul had a keen interest in business and enjoyed studying entrepreneurial ideas and business strategies.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents. Those who will cherish his memory are his son, Israel Bass; brother, Timothy C. Bass (Maria); nieces, India Bass and Iesha Lampkin (Allen); nephews, Tyler Bass and Timothy Bass; great nieces and nephews; aunts and uncles; several cousins; former spouse, Tameshia Wiggins; and longtime friends.

Visitation will be held on Monday, August 3, 2026, beginning at 10 am at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Avenue, Toledo, OH 43623, where the funeral service will begin at 12 Noon. Burial will follow in The Historic Woodlawn Cemetery.
