Obituary For Kathryn Jean Polston

Kathryn Jean Polston, age 60, passed away on October 3, 2026 at 3:31pm, in Toledo, Ohio. She was born on November 28, 1965, in Royal Oak, Michigan, to Andrew John and Jeanne Lynn Tomasko. One of six siblings, Kathryn was raised in the Roman Catholic faith. She attended Bishop Foley for high school, and went on to complete an undergraduate program at Oakland University.

Kathryn earned a master's degree in education at the University of Toledo and went on to work as a social worker at St. Vincent's and St. Charles. She devoted her life to helping people, both in and outside of her career. Caring and approachable, she radiated warmth, and enjoyed talking with people, having a way of making conversation with anyone.

Kathryn loved nature and traveling with her husband, Russell, and their daughter, Isabella Rose. They often visited Tennessee, where they stayed in the mountains. There, she enjoyed relaxing on the porch, listening to the river flow, and watching deer and other wildlife roam the landscape. She also had a remarkable sense of direction, rarely needing a map or GPS. Her family could count on her to know the best way to get wherever they needed to go.

Kathryn will be remembered as an endlessly devoted mother and a bright light to those who knew her.

"Peace I leave with you;
My peace I give to you;
Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid."
(John 14:27)

Kathryn is survived by her husband, Russell Polston; daughter, Isabella Rose Polston; mother, Jeanne; brothers Drew, Steve, Peter (Carrie), and John (Kristen); sister, Margaret Gierula (Scott); and many family members and friends who will miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by her father, Andrew John Tomasko.

Family and friends are invited to visitation on Saturday, October 10, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave., Toledo, Ohio, where a memorial service will begin at 2 p.m.
