Obituary For JoAnn Malohn

JoAnn Malohn, 69, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away on Monday, September 21, 2026 surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on October 23, 1956 to Skip and Betty Karns, who proceeded her in death. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

JoAnn was a caring and devoted woman who spent her career as an LPN, a profession that reflected the compassion she carried throughout her life. She especially enjoyed wound care and took pride in helping others heal. Caring for people came naturally to her, both in her work and in her everyday life.

Being a grandmother brought her a special kind of joy. She made a point of spending time together, taking trips together, and sharing experiences together. She wanted her granddaughter to have memories with her Meemaw to last a lifetime.

She treasured her family and friends and always made time for the people she loved. Whether it was a family get-together, a visit with friends, or simply a quick phone call to check in, she made sure people knew they mattered to her. She shared years of laughter, memories, and several unforgettable girls' trips. She was the kind of friend who stayed connected through the years, always making time for a conversation or visit.

She was quick-witted, strong, and, above all, the personification of perseverance. Life presented her with challenges, but she met them with a strength and determination that inspired those around her. She kept going, kept caring, kept loving, and somehow always found a way forward. Her resilience was not simply something she possessed-it was part of who she was.

After retirement, Josie and her fiancé Chuckie enjoyed having more time simply to be together. They shared their days, took drives, explored, and enjoyed the freedom of having nowhere they needed to be. Some of their happiest moments were found in those ordinary days spent side by side. She loved getting out in her convertible, especially during the summer, although she could put the top down in any kind of weather with the reminder for you to "bring a jacket".

She is survived by her fiancé, Chuck Meyer, daughter Cheryl (James) Fullerton Sr, daughter Angela Malohn, granddaughter Cadence Perry, brother John Karns and many extended family members and dear friends who will carry her memory with them.

The family would like to thank the nursing staff who took care of her during her time at Toledo Hospital.

She will be deeply loved, forever missed, and always remembered.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 25, 2026, at 12:00 Noon preceded by visitation beginning at 10:00 am at Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave., Toledo. Interment will follow at Toledo Memorial Park, Sylvania.
