Joe Woods had his mind ‘in the clouds.’
The Toledo performer contributed the inspirational track “In the Clouds” for the “Acoustics for Autism” benefit CD after writing it six months ago. Woods said the song is about pushing forward and not taking anything for granted, especially when you’re a musician.
“Just keeping on the right track, basically, and not letting other things influence you negatively,” he said.
Woods is happy to have the song featured for the charity, which he has been involved with for five years. He jumped at the opportunity to be involved again this year.
“It just seemed right, I guess,” Woods said.
The song begins with an intro of acoustic strumming and a chorus of Woods’ falsetto. Lyrics include “Will you consider being a friend to tell it like it is? It’s those short summer days and long winter nights, I tell myself that you got your head in the clouds.”
Woods said he sees Acoustics for Autism as a chance for local talent to gather for a cause. He added that one aspect the area has to brag about is its art scene.
“The whole day is just a great day,” Woods said. “After this event usually ends, I think it kind of sparks people’s art. I think after this event, people realize how much art strives [in] this town.”
Woods has been playing music since he was a child, coming from a family of musicians. He has been performing professionally for about four years.
“I’m still a newbie,” Woods said.
The song is a current single for Woods and will appear on an upcoming album he is working on, yet, there is no release date set yet. He hopes it will be out in the next couple months.
