Obituary For Vivian J. Mishka

Vivian J. Mishka, 84, of Perrysburg, passed away peacefully Monday, March 31, 2025, at The Manor of Perrysburg. She was born August 23, 1940, in Toledo, Ohio, to John and Florence (Nelson) Sloop. She married Eugene Mishka on December 2, 1961, and they shared 63 years until his passing on December 24, 2024. She earned her bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Toledo and was a lifelong teacher in parochial schools.

Vivian was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church. She was involved in numerous volunteer activities with Blessed Sacrament and St. Rose Catholic Church, such as kitchen assistance, funeral luncheons, and spreading her faith within the Catholic community. She loved to bake and share her creations with parishioners and neighbors at events or when throwing parties. Her gifts spanned from baking to creativeness, as she shared her skill set with others through sewing and crocheting blankets for special occasions. Her gifts extended outdoors, to gardening vegetables and flowers, with which she took pride in her “green thumb”.

Her dedication to volunteerism extended beyond her creativity; she also devoted time and resources to Autism outreach, animal shelters, and the VFW, among other causes. Vivian adored her grandchildren and was the best friend anyone could have. Vivian loved sending cards to all she knew, commemorating special occasions and never forgetting birthdays, anniversaries, or any other significant event. Vivian was best known as selfless, personal, generous, and always thinking of others.

Vivian is survived by her sons, William “Bill” (Ann) Mishka and Thomas “Tom” (Jennifer) Mishka; her grandchildren, Timothy “Tim” Mishka, Jordanna Mishka, Jesse Mishka, and Jared Mishka; her one and only sister, Dolores Hauden; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Fred Sloop.

Due to her selflessness and lifelong dedication to helping others, as well as her love of animals, Vivian would have preferred that donations be made to a charitable organization in her memory, rather than sending flowers. Memorial Donations can be made to the Wood County Humane Society, 801 Van Camp RD, Bowling Green, Ohio 43402, or the Autism Society of Northwest Ohio, 7140 Port Sylvania Dr, Toledo, Ohio 43617.

Friends and family will be received on Monday, April 7, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Witzler-Shank-Walker Funeral Home, 222 E. South Boundary Street, Perrysburg (419-874-3133), where a funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
