Obituary For Thomas R. Lucas
Thomas Robert Lucas, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully under hospice care on Saturday, November 16, 2024.
Tom was a devoted husband to the late LaDonna Lucas, with whom he shared a beautiful life centered on family, love, and laughter. Together, they raised their two sons, Robert (Denise) and Troy (Jennifer) with a spirit of adventure and encouragement, embracing camping trips, outdoor activities, and countless hours spent on the sidelines cheering for their boys at various sporting events. Tom and Donna created a home always filled with family-cooked meals, endless friends and family gatherings, old western movies on the television, plans for the next camping getaway, and a never-ending stream of family dogs.
Tom’s working life was spent as a telephone service technician, which provided many perks while raising his two sons—things like a never-ending supply of old telephone poles for campfires and the ability to hook up telephones in every room of the house, even the bathroom. Tom most enjoyed working alongside his brothers, the late Jerry (Gerry), Bill (Carrol), and Larry (Alice) and relished the many coffee breaks when they could gather and shoot the breeze.
Above all, Tom’s greatest joy came from being “Pa Tom” to his six adored grandchildren: Mason, Max, Evan, Carter, Makenna, and Avery. He took pride in their accomplishments and cherished every moment spent cheering them on—whether swimming, playing soccer, flipping across the gym floor, or playing baseball and softball. He enjoyed going camping with the grandkids, which always involved a large breakfast, games at the picnic table, or shouting BINGO. He never took his eyes off the grandkids when they were around, ready to get them laughing or talking with him.
Tom’s life was a testament to the power of family, resilience, and love. Kindness shone in his eyes, and he never wavered in his support for his kids and grandkids. His steadfast presence in our family will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
A celebration of Tom’s life will be held on Tuesday, November 26, at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. for family and friends to gather. The service and visitation will be held at Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 222 E South Boundary St., Perrysburg, OH 43551.
