Sylvester J. Lantz, age 84, passed away August 31, 2024, at his home. He was born September 27, 1939, in Bullskin Township, PA, the son of Sylvester H. Lantz and Catherine C. Rebold. Sylvester was a graduate of Waite High School. A proud veteran of the US Army, he served with the 82nd Engineer Battalion Combat in Bindlach, Germany in 1961-1962. Sylvester was Past Commander and Past Chaplain of Arthur Daly Post 334 Toledo and a member of the Christ Dunberger Post 537 Firing Squad.

Devout in his catholic faith, Sylvester was a parishioner at Sacred Heart Catholic Church and St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. He served as sacristan at Sacred Heart for over 28 years. For many years Sylvester was honored to be a Knight of Columbus. He was Past Grand Knight of Council 11450 Walbridge, Fourth Degree Knight of Member of Assembly 807, and Member of River East- Mother Theresa Council 14344.

Sylvester is survived by his children, Sylvester H. Lantz, Bridget Lantz, Barbara Lantz, Paul Lantz, and Amelia Lantz; grandchildren, Daniella, Joshua, Kayon, Tatyana Ali, Javone, Alyssa, and Jarome; and longtime friend and love of his life, Antonia M. Cardenas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sylvester and Catherine, and siblings, Cecilia Lantz, Claude Lantz and Theresa Lantz.

The Funeral Mass for Sylvester will be held Thursday, September 12, 2024, at Epiphany of the Lord Catholic Church, St. Thomas Campus at 11 am. Interment with military honors will follow in Restlawn Memorial Park.
