Shirley Ann Towns was carried to her eternal home in the presence of our Savior, Jesus, on Tuesday, August 13, 2024. She was born on January 13, 1930 in Toledo, Ohio, to parents Harold and Florine (Koepfer) Klein. She graduated from Swanton High School and studied at Davis Business College for a life-long career in the medical field. She married her high school sweetheart, Dick Towns, and shared 66 years of marriage. Together they made their home in Swanton, OH and raised a wonderful family including sons, Brad and Jeano (Oldiges) Towns, Brian and Deb (Williams) Towns; daughter, Brenda (Towns) and Dave Tabbert; grandchildren, Kristi, Ryan, Kiel, Tyler, Mike, Jim, and Dave; great grandchildren, Andrew, Matthew, Logan, Cooper, Sullivan, Jackson, Kayce, Luke, Sawyer, Brooks, Madilyn and Forrest; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Dick.

Shirley worked for Dr. Paul Bell and later for Maumee Internists for many years as a Medical Assistant. She was a member of the Catholic faith at Immaculate Conception – Marygrove, Ohio, St. Joseph – Sylvania, Ohio, and St. Mary’s of the Lakes – Manitou Beach, Michigan. She and Dick enjoyed the summer months at their cottage in Devils Lake, Michigan, and upon their retirement, spent the winter months in St. Petersburg, Florida for many years. She loved family gatherings and had a special place in her heart for the little ones, and was always known for her generosity.

The family rejoices in the Lord for all the blessings bestowed upon them through His faithful servant, Shirley Towns. Special thanks to Otterbein in Toledo and Ashanti Hospice Staff for their amazing care of Shirley.

Private services were held. The family requests memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Walker Funeral Home (419-928-0354) has assisted the family and condolences may be shared with the family at walkerfuneralhomes.com.
