Santos Amado Silva Sr., age 95, passed away peacefully at home on February 29, 2024, in Toledo, Ohio. Santos was born in Asherton, Texas to Benito and Delores (Martinez) Silva. He married Ernestina Enriquez on March 7, 1948, and they had a beautiful 76-year-long marriage. Together, Santos and Ernestina raised a wonderful family and he was the last of his 9 siblings.

Santos was a natural mechanic at heart. He retired from Jeep after a long career. He enjoyed tinkering on projects in the garage and taking care of his tools. He made sure all his tools had his initials on them in red and silver paint. Santos loved spending time in the backyard, as well. Fishing on the river was one of his favorite pastimes. He was a quiet, soft-spoken man who never complained. Santos’ kindness never went unnoticed by those around him. He brought joy and smiles to those who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Santos is survived by his loving wife, Ernestina, children, Juan (Mary) Silva, Mary Silva, Ellie (Scott) Davis, Rose (Gene) Yedica, Margarita Robison, Carol (Dale) Thompson, and Diana Silva, and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, children, Maria Belia Urias-Hibbs and Santos A. (Sylvia) Silva Jr., and grandchildren, Juan Silva Jr., Lisa Urias-Wharton, Victoria Hibbs, and Jacob Robison.

Friends and family will be received from 4:00pm-8:00pm on Thursday, March 7, 2024, at Walker Funeral Home – Oregon Chapel, 3500 Navarre Avenue, Oregon, Ohio. A rosary service will take place at 7:00pm during visitation hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30am at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 729 White Street, Toledo, Ohio on Friday, March 8, 2024, with an hour of visitation prior. Interment will take place following the service at St. Ignatius Catholic Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in Santos’ honor to the donor’s choice.
