Obituary For Robert J. Pfeifer

Robert James Pfeifer, 85, of Sylvania Township, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on September 18, 2024. He had faced a courageous battle with Huntington's Disease in the latter part of his life. He was born on July 14, 1939, in Palmyra, Michigan to Harold and Ellnora (McNutt) Pfeifer.

He married Carol Jean Abner on November 8, 1958, and together they raised two children, creating a home where everyone was welcome. Their door was always open, making their house a cherished gathering place filled with love and laughter.

Bob was a dedicated and proud business owner for over 50 years, building and expanding his HVAC business, A-1 Heating, until his retirement in 2020. Outside of work, he valued spending time with loved ones, soaking up life’s simple pleasures.

He found great pleasure in many years of traveling with his cousin Kendra and her husband, George, and he cherished time spent in the sun, whether relaxing by the pool or enjoying the tranquility of his beloved cottage on Devil’s Lake, Michigan. There, he found peace in fishing, joy in boating, and hosting gatherings that created many special moments with family and friends. Known for his generosity, sense of humor, and unwavering work ethic, Bob always took pride in his appearance, reflecting the care he put into every aspect of his life.

Bob is survived by his wife, Carol; his children, Kimberly (Chris) Smith, and Rebecca Pfeifer (Mike Martin); his grandchildren, Eric (Sabrina), Bradley, Kirsten (Sam), Hilary, and Daniel; his sister, Vivian (Norman) Knight; and his sister-in-law, Carolyn. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Eugene. Bob was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, and his memory will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.

Friends and family are invited to visit at Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave, Toledo, OH, on Monday, September 23, 2024, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., where a service and a time for sharing memories will take place at 7:30 p.m. The family invites you to join them at the service, send flowers, or, if you prefer, make a donation to the Huntington's Disease Society of America. Private interment at Pleasant View Cemetery in Blissfield, Michigan will take place at a later date.
