Obituary For Rajnikant Udeshi
Raj was a foundation of knowledge, hard-work, kindness, and a source of constant support for many. He left behind a multitude of incredible memories to emulate, honor, and cherish.
Raj was born in Mumbai, India where he met and married his childhood sweetheart, Indu, in 1963. Raj was an incredibly hard-working, intelligent, and family-oriented man. He earned his CA (Chartered Accountant), CMA (Certified Management Accountant), and LLB (law degree) credentials from India.
He immigrated from India to New York City in 1971 with a few dollars in his pocket and big dreams. Raj helped establish House of Spices, which is one of the largest wholesalers and retailers of Indian grocery products in the United States. He served as the CFO (Chief Financial Officer) for almost 40 years. Prior to his career at House of Spices, he spent several years as a controller for various businesses in New York City.
Raj also helped all his brothers, and their families, immigrate from India to the US. There are now over 75 Udeshi family members who are established successfully in Los Angeles.
Raj had a wide variety of affectionate nicknames that he earned from his family and friends. Some of his famous nicknames include: “Archie Bunker”, “Andy Rooney”, “Charlie Brown”, and “Yucky-Sweety”. He earned these nicknames from his smart wit, incredible generosity, tenacious mindset, and inspirational confidence. He always managed to give his family confidence and inspired them to work hard, and not be afraid to pursue big dreams.
He is survived by his loving wife, Indu, of 61 years; his daughters, Jyoti (Nirav) Parikh and Urmi Udeshi; grandsons, Dev (Kesha) Parikh and Drew Parikh; brothers, Bharat Udeshi, Surendra (Tara) Udeshi; numerous nephews, nieces, great nephews, and great nieces; and friends that are family.
The family would be honored to have your presence for his last rituals, Wednesday, November 13, 2024, beginning at 3 pm with prayers at 4 pm at Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave.
