Obituary For Olive G. Kimball

On Monday, August 21, 2023, we lost our amazing mother, Olive G. Kimball, she was 101 years old. She was born in Brittany, LA to Charles D., Sr., and Josie (Sides) Fridge on January 24, 1922. Olive was a strong woman, who believed in hard work, strong family bonds, and dedicated service. She joined the Woman’s Auxiliary Corps, the pioneering women of the Army, serving during WWII. While in the service, Olive met George Kimball, and they were married on his birthday, May 12, 1945. They later settled in Toledo where they raised five children. Olive was a fierce mama bear who sought the best for her children. She later returned to the workforce as a package handler at General Mills. All the while she was devoted to her family and showed unconditional love to everyone who knew her.

Olive is survived by her children, Fran Rowe (John), Bob (Jane) Kimball, Charlie (Diana) Kimball, Rick (Kim) Kimball, Valarie (Keith) Ullery; grandchildren, Rick, Rob, Randy Rowe, Connie Hebert, Katy Box, Kortney Good, Bob, Chris, Laura, Val, Ben, Michael Kimball, Amy Donnelly, Rachael Strochine, Stephanie Sherer, Quintin, Olivia, Victoria Ullery; 35 great-grandchildren and one more on the way; 11 great-great-grandchildren with two more on the way; sister, Jodie Mae Crawford of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters, Elme Sevario, Johnnie Powers, and brother, Charles D. (Boo) Fridge, Jr.

Friends will be received on Thursday, August 24, 2023, beginning at 9 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Parish, 4555 N. Haven Avenue, Toledo, until the time of Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. Burial will take place in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
