Nellie Rook, 73, of Rocky Ridge, OH passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2024 at Mercy Health St. Vincent Heart & Vascular Institute, Toledo, OH. She was born on January 26, 1951 in Weslaco, TX to Luz and Petra (Flores) Rios. On February 12, 1977 she married John J. Rook, and he survives. Nellie worked as a resident supervisor for Riverview Industries for 20 years, retiring in 2015. Prior to that she worked as a teacher’s assistant for a migrant program in Woodville, OH. Nellie enjoyed flower gardening, being in the sunshine with fresh air, listening to the oldie’s music of the 60’s & 70’s, and always looked forward to attending Oak Harbor’s July 4th celebration and the Apple Festival every year. She was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, The Ohio State Buckeyes, and the Cleveland Cavaliers. Nellie was easy going and lovable, with a great sense of humor and a big heart for her family. She was always giving and saw the best in people and put the concerns of others before herself. Her family is going to miss her great advice and words of wisdom, and her keeping her husband, John, in check. Nellie had an inner beauty that shined. She took great care with her hair, which no one was allowed to touch. She was super excited to have her first great grandchild on the way.

In addition to her loving husband, John of 47 years, she is survived by her children Andrea Marie (Trevis) Cheatham, Jeremy Rey (Carrie) Rios, Brandy Lee (Arthur) Rose, III, and Cody Donald Rook, grandchildren, Trey Koester, Tevin Cheatham, Tori Cheatham, Nala Rios, Bella Rios, Daniella Rios, Olivia Rios, and Dominic Rose, siblings, Margie Garza, Luz Rios, Jr., Diana Jordan, and Oscar Rios, and half-sister, Maria Rios. She was preceded in death by her parents, 5-year-old daughter, Toby Ann Rook, and half-siblings, Luz Rios and Estanislado Rios.

Visitation for Nellie will be Wednesday, August 28, 2024 from 5-8 p.m. at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 165 E. Water St., Oak Harbor, OH where funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 29, 2024. Burial will follow the services in Elliston Cemetery.
