Obituary For Neil Lewis Horn
Neil Lewis Horn, a long-time resident of Maumee, Ohio passed unexpectedly Monday, September 9, 2024. He was born in Elyria, Ohio to the late James P and Louise (Reising) Horn September 21, 1946. He attended both grade school and high school in Elyria.
Neil received both his bachelor’s (1969) and master’s (1978) degrees in the University of Toledo College of Pharmacy where he was a member of Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity. He went on to a more than 50-year career in retail pharmacy in the Toledo area, retiring from Walgreens in Perrysburg. He enjoyed his interactions with his customers and serving their needs.
As a past Scout Master of the former Troop 32 at St Paul’s Episcopal Church in Maumee, Neil accompanied Toledo area scouts to Philmont, the high adventure camp, in New Mexico twice. He was a member of the Order of the Arrow and was District Arrowman of the year in 1998 to Tindeuchen Lodge.
Neil was a longtime member of St Paul’s Episcopal Church in Maumee where he served on Vestry and was a Chalice Bearer. He was a past president of the UT College of Pharmacy Alumni Affiliate, and a member of the Golden Alumni Steering Committee at UT. He was also a member of the Quality of Life Committee in Maumee. He serves on the Board of the Heymann Historic Society.
Neil had an appreciation for the experiences that life offered as he enjoyed gardening, traveling, especially to Italy, family genealogy, and being an active grandfather. Perhaps his greatest joy was time spent at the events of his grandchildren.
Left to cherish is memory is his wife of 56 years, Mary Jane (Wilson) Horn, son Michael, daughter Katie (Greg) Wesche: grandchildren, Mina, Anneka, Greydon, Carissa, and Greta Wesche: brother Phillip Horn (Nancy); twin sister Nancy Baker (Paul) and nieces and nephews.
Neil will privately be laid to rest at Ft Meigs Cemetery in Perrysburg, OH. Family and friends are invited to a memorial service to honor his life at 11:00 a.m., Friday September 20, 2024, in St Paul’s Episcopal Church, 310 Elizabeth Street, Maumee, OH. A reception will follow at the church.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Neil’s name can be made to the Marjorie Neal Wilson Scholarship at the University of Toledo College of Pharmacy or a charity of the donor’s choice.
