Obituary For Michael "Mike" S. Petree
Michael S. Petree, age 75, passed away on January 12, 2025. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Michael “Mike” was born on August 14, 1949, in North Toledo to the late Virgil and Lillian Petree. He spent his time playing sports, collecting baseball cards, and causing mischief around the neighborhood. Mike made some of his closest friends during these formative years and remained close to them his entire life.
After graduating from Woodward High School, Class of 1967, Mike met his future wife Nancy at a stoplight while both were joyriding with friends. They married on January 9th, 1971, and raised 3 children together. Mike and Nancy recently celebrated 54 years of marriage.
Mike began his career in 1973 when he began working at Apex Metal Fabricating, eventually purchasing the company in 2007. He was devoted to his company, customers and especially his employees.
Other than his love of Apex, Mike had a few other interests including gambling, traveling, listening to music, history and the Detroit Lions and Tigers. Typically, after the first Lions game of the year, he would say “Well, there’s always next year!”. Occasionally Mike was able to combine two of his interests by shooting craps in Las Vegas. He loved traveling all over the world to such locations as Italy, France, Germany, Austria and Russia, to name a few. Once he even travelled to the exotic and remote location of Happy Valley-Goose Bay, Newfoundland, Canada for an unexpected, emergency, 36-hour flight diversion! Mike liked to relax in Saint Petersburg, FL with his wife and taking long walks for exactly 1 hour each day, not a minute less.
Mike is survived by his wife, Nancy Petree; daughter, Shannyn (Scott Eakright) Petree; and son, Ryan (Dawn) Petree; grandchildren, Ryleigh Petree, Aubry Petree and Myles Petree; and brother Jack (Annette) Petree. He was preceded in death by his son, Christopher Petree.
Visitation will be held on January 20th from 4-7 pm at Witzler-Shank-Walker Funeral Home, 222 East South Boundary Street, Perrysburg, Ohio, 43551. The burial will be private and held at a later date. Remembrances can be made through contributions to a charity of the donor’s choice. Condolences can be shared at www.walkerfuneralhomes.com
