Mary Margaret Pyles, 88, of Walbridge, Ohio, passed away on December 12, 2023 at the Lakes of Sylvania, Sylvania, Ohio. Born on September 22, 1935, in Ironton, Ohio, she was the daughter of Edward Earl and Grace Marie (Culligan) Turner. She married the love of her life, Donald L. Pyles, in Lawrenceburg, Indiana on March 19, 1954. They enjoyed many years together, raising their family until his death on June 12, 2004.

Mary was a very loving and giving wife and mother, who valued her family above everything. She saw to their needs with a very kind heart and an amazing talent for cooking! She cherished cooking for her family and friends during the holidays, making sure that no one went hungry! Even as Mary grew older, she still hosted delicious holiday meals everyone looked forward to. She also enjoyed shopping, especially through QVC, for gifts to shower her family with.

Mary started her working career at the former Flower Hospital on Collingwood Avenue and later retired from the Toledo Hospital. She was a member of the 55+ Club and the Diplomat Club and played in a Bunco club for many years. Mary was an active member of St. Jerome Catholic Church and supported the Helping Hands of St. Louis and St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.

Mary is survived by her children, Donald Pyles, Joetta (Rick) Poland, and Thomas (Shirley) Pyles; granddaughters, Christina (Damian) Alvarado and Michelle (Scott) Poland; great-grandchildren, Madison, Kennedy, Dylan, and Alena; brother, Sonny Turner and sister-in-law, Sue Ellen Pyles-Wells; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Patricia Rowe and infant brother, Edward Earl Turner.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM, Monday, December 18, 2023, at St. Jerome Catholic Church, 300 Warner St., Walbridge, Ohio. Entombment will follow in the Toledo Memorial Park Cemetery, Sylvania, Ohio. The Witzler-Shank-Walker Funeral Home, Walbridge, Ohio is assisting with arrangements.
