Obituary For Mary Lou Gargac

Mary Lou Gargac, 88, of Genoa, OH passed away Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at the Genoa Care Center, Genoa, OH. She was born on July 16, 1935 in Canton, OH to Lucien A. and Corinne (Royer) Duquette. In October of 1953 she married Steve “Curly” W. Gargac, and he preceded her in death on September 22, 1998 after 44 years of marriage.

Mary Lou worked as an assistant accounting clerk for Genoa Schools for 19 years, retiring in 1997. She was a member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Oregon, and former member of Fraternal Order of Eagles, Fremont, the Moose Lodge, Monroe, MI, and the Kountry Kickers in Michigan and Ohio. She was also a member of Ladies Bunco Club. Mary Lou enjoyed and cherished her family above all else. She made the holidays special for them and loved to decorate for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Her family is going to greatly miss socializing with her and her helpful advice for them.

Mary Lou is survived by her children, Therese (Thomas) Krajeski, Vickie (Danny) Perrine, Steven A. Gargac, and Joseph Gargac, grandchildren, Craig Krajeski, Rachel Krajeski, Nicholas Perrine, Monica (Chris) Wojciechowski, Benjamin (Rebecca) Perrine, great grandchildren, Keaton and Jackson Rysz, siblings, Owen Duquette and Ruth Ann (Ernst) Tepper, and special friend, Roy Sheets. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Henry Gargac, grandson, Brad Gargac, siblings, Leo, Jimmy, Gerald, and Lucien Duquette, and special friend, Leonard Vogelpohl.

Funeral Mass for Mary Lou will be celebrated by Father Keith Stripe 11 a.m., Saturday, January 6, 2024 at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, 212 N. Stadium Rd., Oregon, OH with visitation at the church prior to the services from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Clay Township Cemetery, Genoa, OH. Memorial contributions in memory of Mary Lou may be given to the Genoa Schools Foundation or a charity of the donor’s choice. Walker Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
