Obituary For Martha Jeanne Baehren

Martha “Jeanne” Baehren passed away peacefully on September 27, 2024, at the age of 96. Born to her parents, William and Martha (Riddle) Haverstock on September 16, 1928, Jeanne grew up in Toledo during the Great Depression. She attended DeVilbiss High School and graduated in 1946. She met her late husband James H. Baehren, and they were married almost 60 years before his passing in 2007. Jeanne spent most of her adult years in Sylvania Township caring for her family, whom she loved unconditionally, and cherished quality time spent together.

Giving back to the community was essential for Jeanne. She volunteered at Sylvania United Church of Christ, Wildwood Manor House (Docent), Riverside Hospital and helped organize the DeVilbiss High School class reunions.

Quilting, knitting, golfing, bowling, and boating on the “Jeannie B” with her husband brought great joy and filled Jeanne’s heart with overflowing love. Many hobbies helped countless charitable organizations such as the Sunshine Children’s Home, and local churches.

Jeanne loved to bake and her cookie care packages were renowned for their quality, quantity and variety.

Left to cherish her memory, daughter, Kathleen (Herbert) Weinraub; son, James W. (Judy) Baehren; grandchildren, Joshua (Tracy) Glover, Kate Hines, Lindsay Baehren (Billy Lowry), Brian Wolfe, Kevin Wolfe (Corey Moore), Jon (Amy) Weinraub, Nicole Sakalauskas (Ezra Artis); great-grandchildren, Emma and Nathan Glover, Finn and Will Hines, Evan and Mia Weinraub, Sydney, and Sophie Sakalauskas.

Preceding Jeanne in death, her parents, William and Martha (Riddle) Haverstock; husband, James H. Baehren; sister, Nancy Ballinger; and grandson, Rhett Hines.

There will be a private graveside service at Toledo Memorial Park to honor Jeanne’s wishes.

Memorial donations may be made to Sylvania United Church of Christ or the Owens Community College Foundation James H. Baehren Scholarship Fund.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Ohio Living Swan Creek for taking excellent care of Jeanne.
