Obituary For Marcia Elizabeth Barlow
Marcia Elizabeth (Fahringer) Barlow, of Holland, Ohio, age 77, died peacefully at Spring Meadows, a Villa Center on Tuesday, January 23, 2024. She was born in Napoleon, Ohio on May 19, 1946, to the late Walter and Christine Fahringer. Marcia graduated from Liberty Center High School in 1964 and then went on to graduate from Stautzenberger College that same year.
Marcia married Joseph Barlow on March 20, 1971 and together they raised his daughter, Marcie in East Toledo. She was active for many years at Memorial United Church of Christ and Prince of Peace Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School. In her retirement, she became active at Christ United Methodist Church where she participated in the Women’s Guild.
Marcia began her career at Allen A. Smith Company, which eventually became Adam Wholesalers and worked there over 30 years. When they closed, she began working for the Toledo Zoo in the membership office where she eventually retired in 2009. After her retirement, she stayed active with her friends and Plan B Group until her recent illness.
Marcia is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joe; twin sister, Marie Fahringer; mother-in-law, Thelma Barlow and sister-in-law; Evelyn Shephard. She is survived by her daughter, Marcie (Mark) Ferguson; granddaughter, Sara Ferguson; grandson, James Ferguson; sister, Melanie (Anthony) Hackenberg and nephew, Robert Thomas.
Friends and family will be received Tuesday, January 30, 2024 from 10:00 AM – 12 Noon at Witzler-Shank-Walker Funeral Home, 222 E. South Boundary Street, Perrysburg. A Celebration of Life will begin at 12 Noon at the funeral home with a graveside service to follow at Fort Meigs Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Marcia’s name to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or an organization of the donor’s choice.
