Obituary For Loretta M. Hartman

Loretta M. (Eckel) Hartman, 97, of Perrysburg, passed away Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at St. Clare Commons. She was born February 13, 1926 in Toledo, Ohio to Elmer and Loretta (Smith) Eckel. She married Norman J. Hartman on April 22, 1950. Together they built their home on Ovitt Road in Perrysburg. Norman passed on January 22, 2013 and Loretta continued living in the same house until she passed. Together, raising four children, Cheryl, Rick, Randy and Sheila.

She graduated from Haskins High School in 1944. Employed as a billing clerk at Ohio Belting and Transmission for 8 years in Toledo, Ohio until starting their family. Loretta enjoyed traveling with her husband, via air, train or bus tours. She loved to bake, especially desserts. She enjoyed cooking and experimenting with new recipes.

Loretta lived in Perrysburg all her life and was a lifetime member of St. Rose Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband of 63 years, Norman; sons, Randy and Rick Hartman; four brothers, Elmer “Bud”, Richard, Robert and Paul Eckel and sister, Jane Mooney

Loretta is survived by her two daughters, Cheryl Peters of Bowling Green, OH and Sheila (Jeffery) Carstensen of Luckey, Ohio; daughter-in-law, Bonnie Hartman; sister, Joanne Smithey of Scottsburg, Indiana; five grandchildren, Jamie, Andy, Bill, Travis and Terrel.; great-grandchildren, Garret, Jorie, Maddie, Cooper, Nathan, Mitchell, Nicholas, Paityn, Austin, Drew, Abby, Jacob, and Beau.

Friends and family will be received Tuesday, August 29, 2023 from 10-11 a.m. at St. Rose Catholic Church, 215 E. Front Street, Perrysburg, OH where a funeral mass will begin at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in New Belleville Ridge Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Loretta’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or The Shriners.
