Obituary For Laura Amelia Barber

Laura Amelia Barber, of Oregon, Ohio, passed away peacefully October 11, 2024, surrounded by her children. Laura was born September 20, 1935, to John and Amelia Hornyak at Women’s and Childrens Hospital in Toledo. Laura graduated from Whitney High School in 1954. Laura went on to work in sales and service at TextileLeather until retirement at age 60.

Laura married John “Jack” Barber October 19, 1957, at Holy Rosary Church in Toledo, Ohio. Laura and Jack had 4 children and resided in Millbury, Ohio. Laura was the ultimate hostess and enjoyed entertaining family and friends at every holiday. She made every holiday so special. Laura was a beautiful soul and gave the gift of safety and love to her children and grandchildren. We will forever be grateful for her unconditional love and support and will miss her so incredibly much. We know we will see her again and have comfort knowing she is with her family that has gone before her and is at peace.

She is survived by her children, John E. (Cindy) Barber, Karen S. Steele, Lynne M. (Tom) Kontak, and Paula (Patrick) McGrady, grandchildren, Lindsey (Kristopher), John (Renee), Abbey, Jessica, Justin, Drew, Jenna, and Allison (Mike), great-grandchildren, Ella, Eli, and Addylynn, siblings, David “Butch” (Cheri) Hornyak, Alma Donahue, and Cecil (Bob) Grandowictz. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband. She was also preceded in death by Sonny Hornyak, Joann McLove, Jim Hornyak, and Frank Hornyak.

Friends and family are invited to gather for visitation from 4:00pm-8:00pm on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at Walker Funeral Home – Oregon Chapel, 3500 Navarre Avenue, Oregon, Ohio 43616. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00am on Thursday, October 17, 2024, at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Oregon. Interment will follow mass at St. Ignatius Cemetery. Memorial donations in Laura’s honor may be made out to Landings of Oregon – Memory Care. The family would like to give a special thank you to Landings of Oregon Memory Care staff for their loving care
