Obituary For Josephine Ann "JoAnn" Veller
Josephine Ann “JoAnn” Veller, 95, of Perrysburg, passed away peacefully, Sunday, September 10, 2023 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg. JoAnn was born on March 27, 1928 in Toledo, Ohio to Leo and Selma (Slupecki) Rychlewski. She married Clarence Veller on August 21, 1948 and he preceded her in death on August 11, 2000.
JoAnn was a lifelong member of Little Flower Catholic Parish. She enjoyed playing BINGO and cards, especially Kings In The Corner. The last five years she resided at Kingston Residence of Perrysburg, where she made friends easily and participated in many social activities. She was known as the “Candy Lady” always having and giving away miniature candy bars to everyone. She loved watching gameshows and sports, knitting and art. For many years, JoAnn worked at the College of Pharmacy at the University of Toledo as secretary to the Associate Dean. She was known as “Mom” to the students. She spent many years as a volunteer at St. Anne’s Mercy Hospital and for Meals on Wheels. JoAnn will be remembered for being humble and always having a generous and caring heart.
For many years, JoAnn worked at the College of Pharmacy at the University of Toledo as secretary to the Associate Dean. She was known as “Mom” to the students. She spent many years as a volunteer at St. Anne’s Mercy Hospital and for Meals on Wheels.
She is survived by her children; Calli (Tim) Sullivan (Pleasanton, CA); Jann (Jeff) Reny (Powder Springs, GA); and Jim (Kit) Veller (Perrysburg, OH); grandchildren, Katelyn (Ryan), Jacob (Cori), Jordan (Lindsay), Alison (Mark) and Erin (Jake) and ten great-grandchildren. Along with her husband Sonny, JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents, granddaughter, Kira Sullivan-Hernandez and sister, Alyce Mathias.
Friends and family will be received Thursday, September 14, 2023 from 9-10 a.m. at Little Flower Catholic Parish, 5522 Dorr Street, Toledo, Ohio where a memorial mass will be held at 10 a.m. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to either Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg, or Little Flower Parish.
