Joseph L. Clark, a resident of Waterford at Levis Commons, Perrysburg, OH, passed away on Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at Mercy Hospital in Perrysburg. Joe was born June 26, 1940 in Missoula, Montana to Howard F. and Margaret (Winter) Clark. The family relocated several times because of his father's job with Consolidated Freight (Joe recalled attending six grade schools and two high schools. Shortly after he graduated from Coosbay High School in Oregon, Joe enlisted in the US Army. He was sent to Okinawa where he served as a director, writer, and sound effects contributor for VUNC, Voice of the United Nations Command radio programs and skits highlighting the values of western, democratic values.

After his discharge from the Army, Joe returned to California and attended UC Berkeley and earned a BA. in Journalism. He worked as a journalist and in Public Relations in San Francisco, Denver, and Los Angeles. In 1991,after completing a master's degree at Cal State Northridge, Joe moved to Toledo for a one-year appointment, teaching journalism and public relations, before moving into administrative positions at the University of Toledo.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing with the Hobbs family and other Toledo friends. Joe and Trudy Robertson married in June 1993 and shared 31 years together. They enjoyed traveling, visiting family in California and Arizona, and Germany, and friends in France and Corsica. With Trudy's sister Emily and her husband, John Anning, they took trips to St. Lucia, Ireland and Scotland. Joe and Trudy spent 12 years living in central Florida before moving back to the Toledo area in July 2023.

Along with his wife Trudy, Joe is survived by his sons Brian Clark and Morgan (Maddie) Clark; grandchildren Emerson and Lachlan Clark; a daughter Amy Clark DeLeon, Trudy's daughter, Alexa Chermak; brother-in-law Leslie Robertson and his wife Julia Gabriel Robertson; sister-in-law Rebecca Robertson, and many nieces and nephews in the Robertson clan. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Patricia Clark.
