Obituary For James R. Bancroft, Jr.
James R. Bancroft, Jr., 75, of Lambertville, MI, passed away at Hospice of Northwest Ohio on October 27, 2023. He was born on August 4, 1948, to James R. Sr. and Frances (Laney) Bancroft. He graduated from Rogers High School in 1967. He was a Vietnam Veteran in the U.S. Navy Seabees and was in the Seabees Reserves for eight years. Jim was a member of the American Legion Post 468. He also was a member of MCB 53 illumi and the Seabee Veterans of America. He worked in construction as a drywaller and he and his first wife owned a Builders Supply Company. He also worked for TARTA as a bus driver for 13 years before he was put on disability. Jim and his second wife owned a pet store and raised exotic birds. He worked at the Toledo Humane Society and as a manager at In & Out Mart where he retired in 2011. Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing at Lost Peninsula Marina, farming, and working his apple orchard. After retiring, he enjoyed golfing with his brother.
He was preceded in death by his first wife of 17 years, Carrie; his second wife of 15 years, Jeanette; father, James R. Bancroft, Sr.; and his mother, Francis R. Bancroft, who passed away when he was 8 years old. Jim is survived by his son, Anthony (Roseanna) Bancroft; daughters, Rebecca Bancroft, Mary (Rick) Jurski, Jacquelyn Bancroft, and Charlotte (John) Wawrzyniak; 10 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; brother, Allen; sisters, Virginia, Laurie, Terry, Tammie, and Debbie. He will be missed by many including his two closest friends, Sylvia and Tiffanie.
All are welcome to visit at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant St., Maumee, on Thursday, November 2, 2023, from 2-9 p.m. The funeral service is on Friday, November 3, 2023, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with interment to follow at Roth Cemetery.
