Obituary For James P. Schlievert

James P. Schlievert went home to his loving Father and Savior on April 20, 2024. He was a man of great faith and love of God, a man of service and loyalty to all.

He graduated from Genoa High School in 1962 and was Salutatorian his senior year. He went to Stautzenberger College for accounting, while working at Pinkerton Tabacco Company, he was drafted in 1966 into the Army. He served in Vietnam in 1967 until he was called home in 1968 when his father suddenly passed away. After his discharge, he tried his hand at farming his father's farm. Farming was not his calling.

He then worked at Lakewood Greenhouse as a sales manager until his retirement. Throughout his life he was a 4-H leader, Allen Township trustee, and was very active in the Genoa Community theater for 30 years. He was a Cleveland Indians fan from the time he went to his first Indians ballgame at 10 years old. His favorite pass time was watching the Indians and Browns games.

He was married to Sheila Bailar in 1968 until her passing in 2011. They had two sons, James Jr and Randall. In 2013, he met his next wife, Linda, at Cedar Creek Church, where they volunteered together and were married in 2015. He is preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Helen, and wife Sheila.

Survivors are son James Jr. (Jill), granddaughters Jori and Jaci, son, Randall, sisters Carol Beemer, Linda Schlievert, Ann (Mike) Mann and numerous nephews and nieces. Also surviving are his wife Linda, her children Scott (Dana) Miller, Amy Molnar, Matthew (Melissa) Miller, 9 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren.

Friends and family may be received from 10:00am – 11:00am on Friday April 26, 2024, at Cedar Creek Church – Perrysburg, 29129 Lime City Road, Perrysburg, Ohio 43551. A memorial service with military honors will be performed at the church at 11:00am following the visiting hour. Memorial donations in James’ name may be made to Cedar Creek Church – Perrysburg.
