Obituary For James Michael Jenkins

James Michael Jenkins, affectionately known as Jim by all who knew him, passed away peacefully at his home on November 8, 2024. Born on May 6, 1948, in Toledo, Jim lived a life full of dedication, skill, passion and humor.

A journeyman sheet metal worker by trade, Jim was a proud member of Local 33 Sheet Metal Workers Union and The International Association of Sheet Metal, Air, Rail and Transportation Workers for 58 years. His colleagues, friends, and family knew him as a mechanical genius. Jim could build or repair anything.

Jim was a 32nd Degree Master Mason. He was also a devoted Zenobia Shriner, playing in the Oriental Band. A lifelong fan of Ohio State University football, he loved hosting game day gatherings, where he would cook dinner and share his love for the game.

An avid boater, Jim built his own wooden boat and cherished his time on Lake Erie. He also enjoyed golfing with sons and his best friend from high school, Rick Garcia, creating memories that lasted a lifetime.

Jim’s legacy of hard work, ingenuity, and love for his family and friends will be remembered by all who knew him. He will be deeply missed.

Jim is survived by his children, Regina (Patrick) Treece, Jason (Kelly) Jenkins, and Joey (Natalie) Jenkins; grandchildren, Joel, Alex, Dominic, Jack and Sophia Jenkins; brother, Dennis Jenkins; and many cherished nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Orene (McGary) Jenkins and his siblings, Robert Jenkins, Katie Kear, Shirley Kear, Don Jenkins, Chuck Jenkins and Donna Godfrey.

Family and friends may visit Tuesday, November 12, 2024 from 4-8pm at Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave. The Funeral Service will be Wednesday, November 13, 2024 at 11 am in the funeral home followed by interment in Toledo Memorial Park.
