Obituary For Gerard M. Kincade, III.

Gerard Majella Kincade III, also known as Gerry and Kink, died August 20, 2024 of Alzheimer’s disease, at the age of 88.

The first of four sons of Gerard Majella Kincade II and Hildegarde Lorain Hadley, Gerry was born in Rochester, NY, and raised in Hudson, Ohio, where he loved wandering in the woods. He attended Western Reserve Academy and the Hill School then Miami University on an NROTC scholarship. While there he was a member of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity. He met his wife Sue Ann Forester while in a play at Western College.

Gerry joined the Marine Corps Reconnaissance Battalion, and later ended his long career in the Marines and in the Marine Corps Reserve as a Lieutenant Colonel. After leaving active service, Gerry worked in building products sales and marketing with Owens Corning in Detroit and Toledo. The family settled in Ottawa Hills. He loved being a father to Doug and Katy, and a grandaddy to Simon, Asa, and Killari. He was with them, and with everyone, generous, warm, patient, mischievous, curious, funny, compassionate, and deeply kind.

His other loves were music, road-trips, the outdoors, and playing tennis. Gerry also volunteered for several organizations including Hospice of Northwest Ohio and Maumee Habitat for Humanity, which named him volunteer of the year.

Gerry was preceded in death by his parents and his younger brothers Bill and Kit. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Sue Kincade; his brother Phil, his children and grandchildren, and many beloved in-laws, nieces and nephews.

A service will be announced in the coming weeks.
