Obituary For Geraldine E. Hill

Geraldine E. “Jeri” Hill, 92, of Port Clinton, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at the Magruder Hospital, Port Clinton. Born on January 16, 1932, in Clyde, Ohio, she was the daughter of Harold and Nora (Earhart) Mesnard. She met her true love, John T. Hill, and they were married in Clyde on February 24, 1951. Jeri worked for the Clyde-Green Springs School District for several years in the elementary school office before retiring.

Jeri was a very outgoing person who enjoyed interacting with those around her, no matter where she went, you might say that she “never met a stranger”. She and John enjoyed being around the water and made many happy memories on their boat, skiing, and fishing. Jeri was an accomplished fisherman, who always seem to reel in the best catch. She and John, for many years, were snowbirds, spending their winters in Ft. Myers Beach, Florida. They took long walks on the beach where Jeri collected many seashells, appreciating each for their unique beauty.

Jeri will be remembered for her talents when it came to cooking and baking. She always made tasty treats and was known for her delicious cookies! She shared those talents with not only her own family, but her family at Trinity United Methodist Church, where she and John were members. She had been a member of the ladies’ circle and the exercise group there for many years.

Jeri leaves behind her lifetime sweetheart of 73 years, John, son, Gregory (Christine) Hill, daughter, Lisa (Dennis) Grone, grandchildren, Corey (Amy) Grone, Lindy (Brett) Kilby, Tiffany (Nathan) Melzer, Brittany (Tim) Hohenstien, Jennifer Spitler, twelve great-grandchildren, and sister, Janet Riekenburg. She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Craig Hill, grandson, Matthew Haas, and siblings, Jacqueline Bauer, Patricia Gill, Roberta Berie, Harold Mesnard, and Carolyn Plotner.

Visitation for Jeri will be held from 3:00-6:00 PM, Friday, October 11, 2024, at the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 216 Washington St., Port Clinton, Ohio. The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 PM, Saturday, October 12, 2024, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 135 Adams St., Port Clinton. Those wishing to make a memorial are asked to consider Trinity United Methodist Church or the Humane Society of Ottawa County, 2424 Sand Rd., Port Clinton, Ohio 43452.
