Obituary For Frederick Cook

Fred Cook, 90, of Rossford, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born on April 22, 1934, in England, he was the son of Herbert and Nellie (Peace) Cook and grew up near the iconic white cliffs of Dover.

Fred served in the Royal Navy before embarking on a career as an electrician among other professions. In 1979, he emigrated to America with his beloved wife Carol (Tempany) and their children, seeking a better life. In the United States, Fred worked as a service manager for a kitchen appliance distributor in Toledo, and ultimately became the International Service Manager at Amana Refrigeration in Amana, Iowa.

In his free time, Fred enjoyed playing golf, working on his model train collection, hiking, and searching for “a nice piece of wood” for his next project. A man of great integrity, he valued practicality and common sense. Fred had a passion for motorcycles and enjoyed playing both the harmonica and the clarinet, with "Red River Valley" being his signature tune.

Above all, Fred cherished his family and friends. He loved spending his time with his grandchildren, imparting valuable life lessons and creating lasting memories. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Fred is survived by his loving wife, Carol Cook; children, Melanie (Rick) Varner, Miranda (Ricardo) Hinojosa; grandchildren, Thomas (Samantha) Velker, Jr., Cameron (Sarah Tucker) Hinojosa, Savannah Hinojosa, Jasmine (Kris) Iannantouno; great-grandchildren, Hailey and Olivia Velker, Kayden, Braysen and Ambrose Iannantouno; sister, Ann Wilkinson; many nieces and nephews, including special nephew, Chris Cook; and countless friends. He was preceded in death by his son, James Frederick Bruce Cook; his three brothers; and parents.

Friends will be received on Thursday, September 26, 2024, beginning at 10 a.m. at Sujkowski-Walker Funeral Home, 830 Lime City Road, Rossford, until the time of Funeral Service at 12 Noon. The burial will be private. Flowers or memorial donations to the Toledo Humane Society are welcome.
