Obituaries

Emily Mae Robertson, 83, of Bowling Green, Ohio, formerly of Phoenix, AZ; Naperville, Downers Grove, and Lisle, IL; and Perrysburg, OH, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at The Willows of Bowling Green.

Born on August 1, 1941, in Toledo, Ohio, Emily was the daughter of Alfred and Lena (Tyson) Robertson. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Bowling Green State University and obtained her Master’s Degree from Northern Illinois University. Emily dedicated her career to teaching by working at Frank Elementary in Perrysburg, OH; Long Beach, CA; and Lisle, IL. She retired as the Principal of Gower West Middle School in Lisle, IL. A lover of art, purple, reading, and travel, she sought out adventure through activities like parasailing, go-karting, four-wheeling, and belly dancing. She also enjoyed great food and her wine. After retiring, she undertook a remarkable renovation of the entire nineteenth floor penthouse at the top of The Commodore Perry in Toledo, where she lived for nearly twenty years. Emily and her husband, who were high school sweethearts that reconnected later in life, enjoyed snow birding between Phoenix and Toledo. Together, they enjoyed living downtown Toledo, and they made lasting memories and friends along the way.

She is survived by her loving husband, John Anning; stepdaughters, Laura Anning (Kendall and Tyler) and Kristen Anning (Haley and Riley); sister, Trudy (Joe) Clark; brother, Leslie Robertson (Julie); sister-in-law, Becky Robertson; and numerous nieces and nephews, including John (Debbie) Robertson, Chris (Jon) Larsen, Todd (Lyndi) Robertson, Alexa Chermak, Ian (Ashley) Robertson, and May Robertson. Emily was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Jim Robertson.
