Obituary For Elias Salem Gharib

Elias Salem Gharib, 72, passed away on Monday, October 14, 2024. He was born on November 10, 1952, in Aita El-Foukhar, Lebanon to parents, Salem and Nabiha Ghareeb. Elias immigrated to the United States from Lebanon in 1966. He attended Woodward High School and graduated in 1970. In 1989 Elias founded The Sylvania Food-Mart. For over 33 years, he was proud to make a positive impact on the people of the community around him. Elias was the epitome of a family man. He cherished his 3 children, 4 grandchildren and 1 great- grandson. He never missed any of their extracurricular events. Elias enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing on his boat and gardening vegetables to share. He loved the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Detroit Lions. He never missed an opportunity to make someone laugh. His quick wit and sense of humor was sure to make you smile. Everyone that met him became family. He was an incredible man and will be missed dearly.

Elias is survived by his children, Shilas Gharib (Todd Kenney), Angela Gharib, and Michael (Cortney) Gharib, his grandchildren, Kaitlyn Wiedmann (Daniel), Ryan Kromenacker, Piper Gharib and Cruze Gharib, and great - grandson, Logan Wiedmann. He is also survived by his siblings, Issam (Carol) Ghareeb, Michel (Gayle) Ghareeb, Nouhad (Fr. George) Shalhoub, George (Nabeleh) Ghareeb and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 17, 2024, from 5-8 p.m. at St. George Antiochian Orthodox Cathedral, 3754 Woodley Road, Toledo, OH 43606, where the Trisagion Prayers will be recited at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue at the Cathedral on Friday, October 18, 2024, beginning at 10 a.m., until the time of service at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to St. George Antiochian Orthodox Cathedral.
