Obituaries

Donald Earl Chalfant, 93, of Perrysburg, passed away Sunday, December 10, 2023 at The Manor of Perrysburg. Don was born November 3, 1930 in Streator, Illinois to Lloyd and Jeanette (Kooi) Chalfant. He proudly served our country in the United States Navy. Don married Lois West on October 18, 1953 and they shared 66 years together until she passed on June 28, 2020.

Don worked as a computer operator for Owens Illinois. He was a member of Perrysburg First Baptist Church. He loved to play cards; you could find Don at the Senior Center every Tuesday, playing euchre.

He is survived by his sons; David (Susan) Chalfant of Orland, FL, and Steven Chalfant of Perrysburg, OH; grandchildren, Christopher (Jamie) Chalfant, Heather (David) Herrington and Stephanie Chalfant-Glenn; great-grandchildren, Abigail, Natalie, Gwendolyn Chalfant, Hannah, Hadleigh, Harper and Riley Herrington and brother, Allen Chalfant. Along with his wife, Lois; he was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Harold and grandson, Cory Chalfant.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, December 14, 2023 @ 12:30 P.M. at Fort Meigs Union Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to Witzler-Shank-Walker Funeral Home, Perrysburg (419-874-3133). Condolences may be made to the family online at www.walkerfuneralhomes.com.
