Obituary For David H. Kodger
David H. Kodger died peacefully surrounded by his loving family on October 6, 2023. He was born to his parents, Orville and Rosemary (Gabriel) Kodger on August 24, 1946, in Fairview Park, Ohio. He was one of 12 siblings. After graduating high school, David served our country in Vietnam. When he returned home, he met his wife Gloria, and they were wed in 1970. Together they had 3 children and just recently celebrated 53 years of marriage. His grandchildren and great grandchildren meant the world to Dave!
David was a person you could always count on – either to lend a helping hand or support you in a time of need. He always had a house or a car project, and if not his, that of a friend or family member. He sought adventure wherever he found himself and had a knack for finding antiques, older model cars, flea markets, swap meets, and anything off the beaten path. He would work for hours on his ’53 Skylark with his son, Dave, even getting in trouble with Gloria for keeping him up past his 9 pm bedtime. He had an interest in diving, which he shared with his daughter Cindy. And often travelled wherever his daughter, Becky, happened to be stationed.
Working as a pipefitter his entire career, David retired in 2006, but he never really quit helping others and working on a project. Dave loved the outdoors – especially being near Lake Erie, ice-cold beer, and being with family. Camping, fishing and boating gave the family many great memories to cherish as well as a legacy to carry on.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria; children, Dave (Robin), Becky (William), Cynthia; grandchildren, Kyle, Matthew, Ashley, Travis, Alyssa, Sabrina, PierceAllen, Destiny, Matthew, Sarah, Gracie, Dixie; great grandchildren, Ella, Carter, Bella; siblings, Ken (Lois), Carol, Donald, Audrey (Paul), Diane (William), Patricia (Jim), Richard, William (Leesanne), Daniel; sister-in-law, Debbie; too many nieces and nephews to list; longtime friends, William McDonough, Jack Prest and Jim Mason.
Preceding David in death, his parents; brothers, Jim, Michael (Cindy); brother-in-law, Leon; sister-in-law Susan.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests a contribution in David’s honor to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation at https//:give.themmrf.org/fundraiser/5024152
