Obituary For Dan L. Kronfield

Dan L. Kronfield, 79, of Perrysburg passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 29, 2024. Dan was born on April 26, 1945, in Toledo, Ohio to Frank J. Kronfield and Bonita (Farnham) Kronfield. In 1970 he married Tolanda (Reese) Kronfield and they shared 54 years together.

Dan graduated in 1963 from Bowsher High School in the first class out of Bowsher. In 1968 he graduated from Bowling Green State University with a B.S. in Music. He did graduate work at Vandercook College of Music in Chicago and the University of Dayton.

While growing up he was always drumming. He was a member of a Toledo Drum Corp, the Demons Drum and Bugle Corp, put himself through college by playing in a rock band, and later was a member of a country band.

Dan was always involved in water sports and activities. He grew up living on Pelee Island in Lake Erie every summer where he worked at his father’s marina. As an adult he had a marina on the Maumee River. He loved swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving, and boating. Water skiing was a favorite and he was proud to say he was skiing this past summer at the age of 79.

Dan loved the outdoors and he loved building, whether it was community around the pond in the backyard or his cabin in the woods of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. These loves carried into his work for Habitat for Humanity and Missions International in Haiti.

Dan played trumpet in a community band and often for church. He loved to sing and was a member of the Perrysburg Chorale for many years.

Dan was a member of Perrysburg First Church where he served on the Trustees and was a member of the Chancel Choir and Gloria Ringers Bell Choir.

He is survived by his wife, Tolanda, daughter Elizabeth (Matthew Wicker), granddaughter Teagan Wicker, sister Teresa (Roger) Rollo, brother Frank W. (Lin) Kronfield, as well as many nieces and nephews.
