Obituaries

Chester H. Rahrs Jr., of Toledo, 64, passed away on August 23rd, 2024, at his home. He and his sister, Lydia A. (Rahrs) Smith, were two children born to Donalva M. (Limmer) Rahrs and Chester H. Rahrs Sr. Chester had two brothers, James H. Magers and Donald F. Magers, born to Donalva M. (Limmer) Magers and Frank Magers. He was originally from Oak Harbor, Ohio and moved to Toledo, Ohio where he lived the rest of his life. He was proud to serve in the United States Army from 1981-1985. After his service he worked at the Toledo Shipyards as a boilermaker and laborer. He also worked in the tree cutting service. He loved hunting, fishing, NASCAR racing, going 4 wheeling in Kentucky and Hocking Hills, Ohio and hanging out with friends. Chester's favorite singer/music was by Buddy Guy who played a unique style of Blues that fused traditional Blues with Rock, Soul and Jazz.

Chester will be remembered by his brothers, sister, sister-in-law, (2) nieces, (3) nephews, (4) great-nephews, (4) great-nieces and (1) great-great niece and many close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, aunts, uncles and grandparents.

A visitation will be held for Chester from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 2nd, 2024 at Walker Funeral Home (5155 W. Sylvania Ave.). A Celebration of Life service will begin at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers the family suggests a memorial contribution to the VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System. Those gifts can be dropped off at Walker Funeral Home in order to be earmarked specifically for the Lucas County Veterans Services.
