Obituary For Carol Sue Wray
Carol Sue Wray, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully at Magruder Hospital on September 9, 2024, at the age of 80. Born on December 8, 1943, in Toledo, Ohio, Carol was the daughter of Charles and Josephine (Rich) Edwards. Known affectionately as "Susie" by those who loved her, Carol's warmth and kindness touched the lives of all who knew her.
On August 27, 1966, Carol married the love of her life, Paul Wray, in Port Clinton, Ohio. Together, they shared a life filled with love, laughter, and countless treasured memories. Carol was a dedicated homemaker, spending her days nurturing her family and creating a welcoming home. She also contributed to her community through her work with the election board and her time spent babysitting, always with a smile and an open heart.
Carol had a deep passion for the natural world. She enjoyed bird watching and hiking through the scenic nature preserves of the area. Her love for the outdoors was matched by her enjoyment of doing puzzles, reading the newspaper, and occasionally indulging in her favorite MTV shows. Daily drives through East Harbor State Park with Paul were a cherished routine, a time for quiet reflection and shared moments of joy.
Family meals were a highlight for Carol, especially those at Berardi's, where she relished the opportunity to gather with loved ones. Her greatest joy came from her role as a grandmother and great-grandmother. She had a special gift for bringing happiness to children, and her Christmas presents were always a testament to her thoughtfulness and affection.
Carol is survived by her loving husband, Paul Wray; her children, Andrea (Jamie) Wray and Kurt (Amy) Wray; her grandchildren, Val DaSilva-Popke and Kristen (Jason) Jones; her great-grandchildren, Miles Popke, Kali Popke-Price, and Liam Popke; and sister, JoAnne Keenan.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2024, from 9:30am to 10:30am at Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Homes, 216 Washington Street, Port Clinton, Ohio 43452. A funeral service will follow at 10:30am in the funeral chapel. Interment will take place at Castalia Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Carol’s name to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources at ohiodnr.gov, honoring her passion for nature and the great outdoors.
