Obituary For Andrea Reen Mendiola

Andrea went to be with her Lord and Savior on December 19, 2023 at The Waterford in Perrysburg, Ohio. She was born June 22, 1942 to Elmer and Janice Carpenter in Detroit, Michigan.

Andrea lived with her family in Liberty Center, Ohio and graduated in 1960 from Liberty Center High School. She loved being in the LC marching band where she played the trumpet and was a strong Liberty Center Tigers fan.

Andrea married James Mendiola and had two beautiful daughters, Lori Ann and Jodi Lynn Mendiola. She worked at Clapp & Haney Tool Company, the family business for several years before moving to Florida.

When her daughters were teenagers, she realized her dream of receiving her Bachelors and Master Degree in Social Work from her cherished Alma Mater, Florida State University. Because of her own struggles she was able to overcome, she was an ardent advocate for others. Andi loved the FSU Seminoles and supported them with gusto!! GO NOLES!!

One of her greatest loves’ was her Maltese pups Tasha and Tara. They gave her so much joy and pleasure especially after her girls passed away, providing incredible comfort during her grief.

Andrea enjoyed growing up on a farm with her sister, Annette, and her three brothers, Mike, Keith, and Kenneth. She was always up for a good time and like her mom, loved Hot Fudge Sundaes.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughters, Lori and Jodi; her nephew, Noel David Carpenter; and her grandparents. She is survived by her granddaughter, Vanessa Cooper and grandson, Dylan Mendiola. She is also survived by her sister, Annette (Joe) Braden; her brothers Mike (Marianne), Keith (Brenda) and Ken (Robin) Carpenter; and many nieces and nephews.

There will be a Celebration of Life for Andrea and her daughters, Lori and Jodi, in the Spring of 2024. Condolences may be shared on the Tribute Wall on this page.

Donations or Memorials may be sent to Toledo Area Humane Society in Maumee or Zoar Lutheran Church in Perrysburg, Ohio.

Please enjoy a hot fudge sundae in Andi’s honor. Rest in peace Andi, we love you and will miss you.
