The Toledo Free Press does not print form letters or letters which are also submitted to other newspapers. We are most interested in sincere personal views as opposed to canned publicity releases or talking points for an individual or a cause, therefore if a writer cannot assure us that their submission is individual and personal, it may be rejected.
Your op-ed or letter to the editor must include:
· Your full name
· Your complete address
· Your telephone number
Unsigned letters and letters containing personal attacks the newsroom deems to be of a libelous nature will not be published. The Toledo Free Press reserves the right to edit or refuse letters. All columns and letters on the opinion page are the views of the authors and do not necessarily reflect the views of Toledo Free Press.

Op-Ed Submission Policy
We welcome op-ed letters that offer authors a First Amendment right to develop a full argument or perspective. Op-eds, or opposite the editorial page, are opinion pieces that give writers an opportunity to explore an issue deeply, provide analysis and offer persuasive arguments or viewpoints.
Op-eds are typically written by external contributors with expertise, experience or a strong opinion on a subject, such as academics, activism or public figures.
Submission Guidelines:
- Length: Op-eds should be kept between 600-1000 words.
- Relevance: Op-eds may introduce new ideas or discuss broader implications of current events.
- Original Content: Submissions should be original and not published elsewhere. Please avoid content that is promotional, defamatory or disrespectful.
- Editing: We reserve the right to edit letters for misinformation, clarity, length and style. We strive to retain the original intent of your message.
- Frequency: To give space to a range of voices, we may limit repeat submissions from the same individual within a 60-day period.
- Publication: Submission does not guarantee publication. You will not be informed when and if the letter publishes.
