The Adrian-based group Ear Candy recorded its version of the Andrews Sisters’ “Jing-A-Ling, Jing-A-Ling” for the Make-A-Wish CD.

Margaret Hyre, Joyce Cameron, Stephanie Jass and Wynne Marsh formed Ear Candy about a year and a half ago. Hyre said they knew each other through their performances at the Croswell Opera House in Adrian. She, Cameron and Jass do most of the singing, while Marsh accompanies on piano. They also like to sing a capella.

“We try to find music where we can harmonize a lot,” Hyre said.

That is part of the reason Ear Candy chose to cover “Jing-A-Ling, Jing-A-Ling” for the Make-A-Wish CD.

“It’s not really a familiar tune, but we thought it was catchy,” Hyre said. “It just was a really fun song. … It’s something people are going to really remember, even if they hate it.”

Although they had never recorded their music before, Hyre said they really enjoyed the process and would love to eventually record their own CD. They have, however, performed for several charity events and fundraisers in the short time that the group has been together.

“That’s a big part of who we are, helping others,” Hyre said. “Singing brings us so much joy; it’s nice to be able to share that with others.”

Hyre said Ear Candy hopes all the CDs sell so Make-A-Wish can help many children’s wishes come true.

“That is just so neat to us, that we can be a part of something for children who really need something special in their lives,” she said. “We’re really excited to be able to contribute to that.”
